What is BOTOX® Cosmetic used for?
BOTOX® is a simple, nonsurgical procedure that temporarily improves the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines.
What is the procedure?
You will be asked to contract the facial muscles (frowning, squinting) that affect the area to be treated. This will help determine the best location for the BOTOX® injection. It takes 10 minutes. The BOTOX® is injected directly into the muscle or just below the skin using a tiny needle. There is generally no recovery period. You can go directly back to your normal activities. You should stay upright for 4 hours, avoid strenuous activities and should not rub or massage the injection sites.
Is it painful?
No anesthesia is required and most people experience only minimal and brief discomfort. At Visible Results, we provide a topical anesthetic and a cooling device to minimize any discomfort.
What are the common side effects?
The most common side effects following injection include headache, nausea, and flu-like symptoms. Less common reactions include temporary eyelid droop in less than 2% of patients.
Is BOTOX® expensive?
Actually, it’s quite affordable. In fact, nationwide the cost per treatment averages between $150 and $500, depending on the number of areas injected.
